Eyeshadow Tips and Tricks

2 Aug

These eyeshadow tips will take you from good looking to gorgeous. The eyes are the first thing most people notice about your face, so knowing how to apply your eyeshadow correctly is the key to showing them off.

Eyeshadow comes in a huge variety of colors and is available in creams, powders and pencils. Although your options may seem overwhelming at first, you can use your eyeshadow to accentuate the positive and camouflage the negative.

Cream or Powder?
Eyeshadow is available in either creams or powders. Creams are nice because you can usually apply them in one stroke, but powder eyeshadows last longer and tend to provide a sheer cover. If you like a cream eyeshadow, you can apply a matching powder on top of the cream to increase its staying power. For many women, the ultimate eyeshadows are the cream-to-powder shadows that go on as a cream and dry to a powder, giving you the best of both worlds. Ultimately, the choice between cream and powder is a matter of preference. Try both and see which one works better for your skin type.

You may want to try using an eyeshadow primer before applying shadow. A primer provides a smooth base that will allow easier application of the shadow and keep the shadow on longer. You can use a translucent powder as a primer to avoid having to purchase a separate product.

Choosing Colors for Your Skin Tone and Eye Color
When it comes to color choices for eyeshadow, the number-one rule is to test different colors and wear what you like best. However, there are some general guidelines as to which colors work best for certain skin tones and eye colors.

Fair skin: You can wear most eyeshadow colors, but keep them in the lighter shades, especially for daytime wear. If your hair is dark, you can go with slightly darker eyeshadow colors. Medium plums, purples, lavenders, greens or blues all work, but line your eyes with the same color as your shadow.

Olive-toned skin: Colors in the brown family work well for a subtle look. Choose the ones that are slightly darker than your skin tone, or try a gold that really glimmers and shines. Other colors to try include greens, aquas, purples and blues. Use an off-white, shiny shadow on your brow bone to make your eyes really stand out.

Golden-toned skin: Apply pale gray, slate blue, purple or pink on the lids and one shade darker in the crease for accent. Highlight the brow bone with off-white shadow.

Light brown skin: Brown shadow with a shimmer works beautifully, but don’t shy away form vibrant shades like greens, blues or purples. Keep the shadow sheer, and use one that sparkles.

Dark skin: Try eyeshadow that is one shade lighter than your skin tone. Try using a shadow with gold or silver flecks of shine. If you prefer a little more color, use deep shades of purple or burgundy and line the eye with dark colors.

Most experts don’t advocate trying to match your eyeshadow to your eye color. Instead, follow these guidelines: Green eyes look great with purples, bronzes or browns; blue eyes perk up with peaches, yellow and golds; and for brown eyes, anything goes.

Day to Night: Which Colors Make the Transition Best?
When you are applying makeup for daytime, you can use just a base color and mascara. At night, you want a more dramatic look. This is best achieved by using darker colors with lots of sparkle and shine. Because using a wet brush will intensify powder shadow colors, you can use the same shadow from day to night, but use the wet brush for your evening application. Shimmery cosmetics are great for adding interest, but be careful not to overdo it, or you will call attention to those lines and wrinkles that you would rather hide.

How to Apply Eyeshadow
Start with a natural concealer that matches your skin tone, or use a primer. This will give you the smoothest, longest-lasting coverage. For basic eyes, use the lightest shade of shadow from the lash line to the brow line. Use a medium shade on the lid and a third color along the lash line and outer corner of your eyes. You can also use that third color in the crease of your eye to add depth, as long as it is the darkest of the three shades.

Try using an eyeshadow brush, rather than a sponge-tipped applicator. A brush is wonderful for blending and offers a nice sheer coverage. Load the brush with shadow, and then blow off the excess before applying. Wash your brushes every couple of weeks with a light shampoo and dry them flat, rather than standing on end. Also, if you love to use different eyeshadow colors, purchase more than one brush and keep the color families separate so they don’t bleed over into each other, leaving you with a muddy-looking mess.

Using Eyeshadows to Fix Those Flaws
Eyeshadow can work wonders to camouflage flaws in the eye and nose area. For close-set eyes, keep the inside corners of the eyes lighter than the outer corners. Use concealer that is one shade lighter than your skin at the inner corner of your eyes and on the sides of your nose. Use a matte shadow in a medium to dark shade, and sweep it outward and upward, starting at the middle of the lid and going toward the outer half.

If your eyes are wide-set, do the opposite. Emphasize those inner corners by using a neutral base and then dusting on a medium to dark color on the inner half of the eyelid, blending outward. You want the most color on the inner half and then let it lighten up as you blend outward. Use eyeliner to line the lid from the inner corner to the middle of the eye. Again, blend outward, lightening up as you go.

Beautiful makeup tips

1 Aug

When we look at someone,we first glance at their face irrespective of their body form. We tend to judge people through looks and impressions. The most attractive part of the face are eyes. Making them attractive and beautiful is the key to successful make up.

Here are some of the tips for eye make up -

1.Brows – Dust some eye shadow powder and brush off the extra with eyebrow brush. It’s best to choose a shade that matches your skin tone. The brush should be flat and angled at the tip.

2.Eye Liner- Using a sharpened Eye pencil to draw a thin line under the lash makes the lashes appear thicker. Hold the corner of your eyes with the finger tip while applying applying the liner. A thicker line is morw attractive, though on already big eyes, a thin line looks better. Be sure to blend the line with a wedge sponge or Q Tip to soften.

3.Big Eyes- Start with lining the outer corner of the eye with medium tone eye color .Set shape by angling slightly upward. Apply eye color on entire eyelid as far as crease, that blends outward. The starting corner and the outer corner of the eyes should be colured the darkest.

4.For Normal Eyes- Using a medium to dark eye color start at the outer corner of the eyes and set shape slightly upward. Blend a darker shade over the hooded area, extending it into the brow bone. Blend a medium tone in the center of the lid , softly blending to soften the brow bone.

5.Deep Set Style- Use medium shade of shadow starting at corner of eye, slightly angling upward, and blend. Use light shade on entire eyelid. Blend softly to brow bone. Apply light shade under brow and stay away from dark colours.

6.Round Eyes- Use light colored shadow over the entire lid and a darker shade in the crease. Apply eyeliner on both the top and bottom lids, and use mascara on the upper outer lashes .

7.Photographs- To keep your eyes from fading in photographs, clean up your eyebrows , well defined and completely filled-in. The same goes for your eyelashes. Use a curler and two coats of waterproof mascara. For shadow color, don’t use pink, light blue or frosts; they’ll make you look tired. A natural look is your best bet. The more comfortable you feel with your eye make up, the more confident you’ll be in any situation.

Follow these instructions to get a killer look but while drawing your eyes make sure you use branded products cause old products or unbranded products can put your sight at risk.

Five Things to Avoid When Applying Makeup

8 Jul

Makeup is a wonderful tool to flatter your features and highlight your natural beauty. A perfect makeup gives you a glamorous look and boosts your confidence. Knowing how to achieve a great makeup you will be able to create wonderful looks that are suitable for each and every occasion. Makeup application is not a complicated thing, however there are some basic rules that are key to obtaining a perfect result.Read on to find out what are the most important things that you should avoid in order to apply your makeup correctly.

When it comes to makeup application, one of the essential things you should pay attention to is to apply face powder after a hydrating or moisturizing cream. If you apply powder on a dry skin, your makeup will look tired and you can end up with a flaky, tired looking skin that can ruin your look. If you forget to moisturize your face before brushing powder on your face, it can clog your pores, making them seem larger and more visible.
Go for softer, more natural nuances when choosing a blush, since bright, harsh colors do nothing else but make you look tired and accentuate your wrinkles. Fresh, rosy cheeks will give you a chic, feminine look and a nice, soft contour to your face.

In order to obtain a flawless result, shop for a foundation that is matching your skin tone. Avoid applying it on your chin or cheeks alone, since the result will be an artificial effect and you will end up looking as though you are wearing a mask on your face. The best way to avoid an unnatural finish is using a damp makeup sponge to apply the foundation, starting from your neckline and proceeding upwards. Blend the product evenly into your skin, leaving no lines on your face. Remove excess foundation if necessary.

Avoid choosing eye shadows according to your eye color. Blue eyes won’t get enough accent if you match them with blue eye shadow tones. Opt for contrasting colors instead, such as dark brown or black that will truly highlight the beautiful color of your eyes, giving you a deeper, sensual look. If you have brown eyes opt for wonderful violet shades while green eyes look amazing when you emphasize them with pink or peach nuances.

When your eyes are tired, try to stay away from green eye shadow tones, as they will only make them look even more tired. In this case, you can try out peachy shades or warm beige tones that will make wonders to your eyes, giving you a fresher, brighter look. Tip: Shop for duo or trio eye shadows that contain lighter and darker color tones as well. These amazing products are perfect choices when you are attending an elegant evening occasion as you can accentuate your eyes with chic dark tones, adding a touch of glam to your look.

When you are applying a lip makeup, one of the basic things is to make sure that the color of the lip liner that you use for giving your lips a nice contour, should not be darker than the lipstick or lip gloss itself. Instead, opt for a lip pencil that is very close to the shade of the lipstick you are going to wear. If you are endowed with gorgeous plump lips, the best option is to put aside lipsticks and go for dark pink lip glosses or apply a pink lipstick using a fine brush.

Following the above tips you can avoid ending up with an artificial look and you will easily achieve a stunning makeup that enhances your features and gives you a sophisticated, glamorous look.
